Bible School in Jastrzebie |
In the past year, Roger has visited the Assemblies in Palowice, Wroclaw, Bytom, Tychy, Jarwozno, Jastrzebie-Zdroj, Katowice, Piasek and Cieszyn for Bible teaching. It is great to see the interest everywhere, but the visit to Wroclaw was a real highlight. Tom and Anne Stanczak, commended from the same Assembly in Chicago as Jim Elliott (one of the five missionaries martyred in Ecuador) are gifted church planters. |
They were involved in the establishment of the first assembly in Wroclaw and have now moved out to a suburb and have commenced a work there. Before my arrival, they had already seen 28 folk saved and while I was there another came to the Lord; I know of others who have been saved since. The meeting takes place in the Stanczak’s house. Many of those who have come to Christ are working in the University or the high tech industries based in the area. The interest in the Bible teaching was great and after the meetings the questions that were asked showed that all think deeply and are determined to follow the Lord and His word. |

The teaching and training ministry takes two forms, teaching in the Bible school and training in children and youth work by supporting the activities that the believers engage in. This year Roger has taught on leadership and the seven churches of Revelation 2 & 3. |
The lecture room was full on both occasions and, as in Wroclaw, the questions asked indicate a desire to learn from the scriptures and to put that learning into practice. He also led the winter holiday sessions in Bytom and used that as an opportunity to prepare others for work with children. Derek also prepared a programme for the camp in Palowice and trained those present in using the material. He and Margaret also took key roles in the camp there. |

We also have a role in encouraging the leaders with whom we work. All who are involved in leadership understand how lonely and challenging role it can be. Derek and Margaret take a caring role with Marian and Hannah Pawlas and Roger with Henryk and Tonia Turkanik, Tom and Anne Stanczak, Marek and Ela Nalewajka and with Richard and Libby O’Connell. It is good to be with them and to share with them in their ministry, be a listening ear and give them the opportunity to unburden themselves. |
